Coach talking on a beach volleyball vacation at an all-inclusive resort with sand courts behind him

Volleyball Vacations & Tours: Why Your Next Trip Should Be a Training Camp (2026)

Every winter I get the same email: "Mark, I want a beach trip, but I don't want to come home worse at volleyball than when I left." Good news — you don't have to choose. A volleyball vacation built around real coaching is the rare trip where you come home tanner and better. I've coached hundreds of adults at our destination camps, on beach volleyball and sand volleyball courts from Florida to the Caribbean, and I'll tell you exactly how these trips work, what they cost, and how to pick one that's actually worth your PTO.

What is a volleyball vacation, exactly?

A volleyball vacation (some people search "volleyball tours") is a trip where organized volleyball — matches, clinics, or a full training camp — is the centerpiece instead of an afterthought. They range from loose "play tourism," where you just get court time in a pretty place, to structured training camps where professional coaches run you through multi-day lessons with a plan. The first kind is fun. The second kind changes how you play.

Why is a training camp better than a volleyball tour?

Because reps without feedback just make your bad habits permanent. On a pure tour you'll play a lot, laugh a lot, and groove the same arm swing you brought with you. At a real camp, a coach interrupts that loop. Our camps are three days of structured beach volleyball lessons — think of a camp as eight to ten lessons stacked into one weekend — with a coach-to-player ratio we cap at 1:10, so nobody hides in the back of a drill line.

Here's my honest test: if a trip promises "training" but can't tell you the coach-to-player ratio or how players are grouped by level, it's a tour with a whistle. Ask before you book.

Cost comparison: 8-10 private lessons vs one $599 3-day beach volleyball camp

What does a beach volleyball training vacation cost?

Our 3-day camps are $599 for the coaching. Compare that to private lessons at home: at typical private-lesson rates, $599 buys you roughly 8–10 one-hour sessions — spread over two or three months, usually without game play attached. A camp gives you that same volume of coached lessons in one focused weekend, plus coached competition against people at your level. Travel and lodging are on you, which is exactly how I'd want it — you pick the hotel and budget that fit your trip. Video analysis is available as an optional add-on if you want your film broken down while you're there.

What's it like at our Punta Cana camp?

Punta Cana is the full "volleyball vacation" experience: all-inclusive resort, warm water, and mornings on the sand doing serious work before you go be a tourist. Here's what it looks like:

We run camps at multiple destinations through the year — you can see every location and date on our camps page.

What actually happens each day at a camp?

Mornings are training blocks: warm-up, a skill focus (serving and passing one day, setting and attacking the next, defense and game strategy to finish), then coached game play where you're forced to use the new pattern under pressure. Afternoons are yours — that's the vacation part. Evenings, people usually end up eating together, talking volleyball, and planning who they're partnering with tomorrow. By day three you're playing coached tournaments and the corrections from day one start showing up without you thinking about them. That's the whole point of stacking lessons back-to-back instead of spreading them across a season.

What should you ask before booking any volleyball tour or camp?

Five questions, and a real operation will answer all of them without flinching: What's the coach-to-player ratio? (Ours never exceeds 1:10.) How are players grouped — by level, or is everyone thrown together? How many coached hours are on the schedule, versus free play? Who are the coaches and have they actually coached, not just played? And is video analysis available if I want my film reviewed? If the answers are vague, you're buying court time with a lanyard. There are great operators out there — just make them show you the structure before you hand over vacation days.

Who are volleyball vacations for?

Adults of basically every level. We group players by level on day one, so a first-timer isn't drilling next to a former college player. The people who get the most out of it are intermediates who've plateaued: you play weekly, you've watched the YouTube videos, and you need someone to watch you and fix the two things actually holding you back. That's what a low-ratio camp does that no amount of open play will.

How do you get the most out of a camp trip?

Don't treat the camp as a one-off. The players who improve fastest train before, during, and after: they show up with a base, get corrected in person, then keep the fixes alive with structured online coaching when they're home. That's why I push the combination of camps plus our online membership. You can test the membership side for $1 for 7 days — it's $49/month after that (or $497/year), and every skill course I've built is inside it.

My suggestion: book the camp first. Then start the $1 trial about two weeks out and use the classes inside to arrive sharp instead of rusty.

Ready to make your next trip count?

If you're going to spend the flight money anyway, come home with a better arm swing. Pick your destination on the camps page — $599, three days, capped at 1:10, grouped by level. I'll see you on the sand.
